I find it fascinating that so many people come on the Breeze forum and try and convince Breeze pilots that it’s so bad. This is my third airline, and BY FAR the best QOL and money for the little amount of work it is. All we do is fly an airplane for a job. You think I’d be better off 1 or 2 leg commuting to some giant city I don’t wanna even be in, overnighting places I don’t want to overnight, and flying with old crusty captains I don’t want to fly with? All for what? Maybe 5 years down the road “break even” to what I’m making now?? Where will breeze be at by then? What if the age 70 law passed? How’s all that seniority list movement gonna look for you at UAL/DAL/AA? Guess what, I’ve seen it first hand to a family member when it went to 65, you’re gonna stagnate. For a LONG time. I’ll never come on here and say someone went wrong for going to a legacy, but let’s keep our head out of our as$es and understand all we do is fly a plane for a living. You think making 275k a year, rather than 250k is really gonna push you over the edge?
$275k? Who makes that little? I don’t think there are many major captains under $300k these days. But the real issue is 401k. Do the math with compounding interest on 16-18% 401k @ $300-$400k major income vs 4% @ $300k breeze income.

and 5 years to break even? Id like to see the math on that one. DL/UA have 1 year upgrades. You leave for delta tomorrow, you’d be a 220 737 or 320 captain and on year 2 pay you’d be making $315-$325/hr, plus PS, plus 17-18% 401k. 5 years. whatever you need to tell yourself.

But also, for me, I’ll make right at 220k (my first year) for 2022, and I see my kids every day/night. Each is their own to pick what works best for you. But I enjoy it right now. Let’s hope it stays that way
It's definitely the wife and kids for me. If you factor in lower chances of a divorce and wayward kids that can't get scholarships at their choice university (or worse), you might as well be making half a million at Breeze. I'll recalculate my destination ETA at the next waypoint (when the kids are gone).

You sound like you’re at the corner of a gate area waiting out your airport reserve. It’s not all about APC pay-rates. That new Captain at delta is likely commuting cross country or is stuck in New York somewhere. Anyways, most of the pilots here are already captains, street captains or are about to be captains. Why leave to lose potentially being top % seniority to be an FO somewhere when in 6 to 12 months the pay will already be close to matching the other places. Not to mention potentially a new contract. We only have around 350+ pilots now it’s a tiny number compared to legacies, the ones coming here have specific reasons still.

Lmao. Are you seriously posing the question of “why leave Breeze for a legacy job”?

Then just leave, nobody is stopping you. Makes it so much better to fly with people that want to be there.

Sorry if this has been asked before but just looking for opinions on what you would do. Home based at a regional vs commuting to breeze? End goal would be United if that makes any difference

I would not consider Breeze a destination to become a commuter for. Especially after the latest pay hikes at the Regionals.

What I was leaning towards as well, im a cadet for piedmont so that’s probably what I’m going to do but just wanted some other perspectives, thanks!

There’s a reason so many single and low double digit seniority number guys have left breeze and are continuing to leave. But keep drinking that Neeleman koolaid! Mmmmmmm tasty.
