My friend just accepted his recall there, and he said they're spooling it up BIG for a take back of what they had to give. Between them, NWA, DAL, and AMR.. I think there might just be a chance to get this profession back on it's feet.

Wishing them the best!

Good luck

Good luck and god bless them.

However, one thing that will never change is the jetblue's, Virgin America's, Skybuses', Max Jets.......

They major airline pilot's can walk all they want, but they will never change the fact that LCC's are here to stay.

There was a day when Kiwi, West pac, Winn Air, Vanguard and all the rest would start up and die within a couple years. But there are thousands regional airline captains wanting to make the jump to "big iron" and willing to do it for half the pay and benefits of a major airlines. Combine that with the fact that ther are managements trying to put LCC's together, an FAA all too willing to give away a 121 certificate and a capital market hoping that the next LCC will give a return like B6, and you are always going to be fighting the LCC's.

The big 3 will get their pay back. Then the big 3 will go BK again. it will be a never ending cycle.

UAL hired over 400% more woman on a percentage basis than what the F.A.A. issued when accounting for woman private and commerical certificates. Average flight time for woman being hired at UAL in the late nineties and early two thousands was 1600 hours total time. Take it for what it is worth.

Did the UA CEO really take 40 million?

Yes. It was from stock awarded upon bankruptcy exit. IOW, the cash came from him selling his shares on the open market.

OK. But my class in 1997 consisted of 24 WASP dudes and 1 African American (who btw was ex-rEAL and had a star on his ALPA pin). Also, if you look at the UAL hiring statistics AFTER 1992 you will find less than 20% annually were women and minority. Put another way, 80% of pilots hired after 1992 were NOT women or minorities. That is 4 out of 5!
