This can’t be good.

Doesn’t look like he read back the hold short clearance. Perhaps tower should have asked him to read back the gold short clearance. Not sure why the pilot argues that he read back cleared to cross?


Not the first time someone has crossed at that intersection without permission. Something more needs to be changed to prevent these types of incursions.

I vote for pop up spike strips instead of runway status lights. Company will be much more interested in how you ****ed up when you pop all the tires on a 757!

Long time in KJFK... Doesn’t ATIS State “Read back all hold short clearances”?

I missed the hold short clearance the first time I listened. The controller shouldn’t combine a hold short clearance with a question about the gate number. Get the hold short read back then ask the gate.

Did they run the QRH?

Bummer...good way to ruin a St Martin trip.

Perhaps Delta should hire more regional pilots. You know, the ones with thousands of hours of experience at JFK/ORD/LAX.. (insert major airport here)..

EDIT: Listened to it. Inexcusable. Even after the incident wasn't providing a proper read back. Cute military "Roger" though.

Relatively honest mistake, but he didn't read back any runway clearance. Agree poor technique on the part of ATC, she needs to make sure she gets ALL of the readbacks if she's going to mix critical comms with admin.
