Default Care to answer a seemingly irritating question...

Guys I know its a far cry from what you usually discuss here but I came across some videos on youtube about the Chemtrail conspiracy... What are you guys thoughts on this? Are these people on crack or what???

The conspiracy basically states for those unfamiliar if any are unfamiliar that what we usually call "contrails" are actually "chemtrails" that is a trail of chemicals that has been purposefully dumped on us for some reason...

I figured I'd ask level-headed seasoned airline pilots what their thoughts were...

I've seen many a contrail being formed off many a tanker while A/R-ing. And I'm pretty sure there aren't any "spray nozzles" under the 135 wingtips.

I'll plagarize from wikipedia...

A vehicle engine's exhaust increases the amount of moisture in the air, which can push the water content of the air past saturation point. This causes condensation to occur, and the contrail to form. At high altitudes this water vapour emerges into a cold environment and the local increase in water vapour density condenses into tiny water droplets and/or desublimates into ice. The majority of the cloud content comes from water trapped in the surrounding air. At high altitudes, supercooled water vapour requires a trigger to encourage desublimation. The particulate matter in the aircraft's exhaust act as this trigger, causing the trapped vapor to rapidly turn to ice crystals

You'd have to smoke a WHOLE lot of crack to start believing that kind of stuff. The only chemicals added to jet fuel that I know about would be anti-freeze additives and/or stuff to prevent the fuel from atomizing easily in the event of a crash...the idea being to prevent or minimize explosions.

Of course jet fuel itself is distilled from petroleum, which is a mixture of various-length hydrocarbons...which certainly qualify as chemicals themselves.

Saw the same video the other night, but on tv. The "chem-trail" advocates said the government was adding chemicals to jet fuel to be spread in the atmosphere to battle global warming. The show's hosts had samples of jet fuel tested and found nothing. Whatever the chem trail folks came up with, the show hosts debunked. Which, I guess is what makes for good conspiracy theories. The only thing I found in my Jet-A is water.

ITS INSANE! Yeah, the crap they come up with... One video said that it was various reasons, such as global warming mitigation, and POPULATION CONTROL!! Good friggin greif...

I realize the government isn't spraying us. But this video did show an aircraft with something coming from under the wings, what is it? Fuel? I am just curious because I would like to know what it really is... so I can laugh more at these people...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvioxJUL6C0

You'll see it about the 3:53 mark on the video so theres no reason to veiw the whole, thing, it'll only tick you off...

BTW - Rick I can beleive the hydrocarbon stuff, but they are indicated that "we are getting sprayed" by the dum dum dum "government"...

Nice video, but who do you have to call to get Satan to narrate a video for you? In the video it looks like a 707 adjusting it's gross weight.

So thats fuel?? Why doesn't someone throw a fit over that, rather than come up with some crazy conspiracy theory??

Airplanes left contrails long before the first jet engine ever flew.

Ever seen a picture of a formation of B-17's or 24's leaving contrails?

These people should be institutionalized...after getting a boot to the head and knee to the groin.

Of course I'm biased since I fly the evil KC-135.

Totally true. Next time you talk to one of the conspiracy theorists, tell them that we put a top secret chemical called PRIST into the fuel. That's the chemical that's sprayed out the back of the engine and contributes to such items as cancer, global warming, UFO invasions, secret wiretaps, and government controlled weather experiments.
