PHL, CLT would have been like a ghostown. PIT too.

That is when the firsesale would have started.
In my opinion, SWA would have moved into PHL and CLT so fast it would have made your head spin. They would have snapped up USairs 737's, Gates and Slots as fast as they could.

Delta, UAL and AMR , NWA would have battled over USAir's slots and Gates in DCA, LGA and BOS.

Where would have America West fit into all of this................?
Think America West would have had the money to out bid SWA or even the DAL and UAL in bankruptcy??

Nope, like it or not, the Cactus folks future got a whole lot brighter because of what USAir brought them.
That's probably about how it would have gone down. The east-west barbell thing should be great for the combined entity if management doesn't screw it up somehow My point was that AWA bought airways in bankruptcy, and in a sense rescued the workforce. How (or if) that fact should affect seniority integration is negotiable, but it is still a fact...the guy I was responding to said it was a merger, which is not the case (regardless of what the press release may have said). The finances behind the deal make that clear.

The money was largely outside money, but it was organized by Doug Parker. The money-men could have just dumped their cash directly into airways without involving AW, but they obviously didn't trust legacy airways management (I wonder why ). They did have some faith in DP and AW management.
