Jetpack guy flying around LAX
#11
To be serious for a minute.....does anyone actually think some guy has a jet pack? And successfully flew it without dying? I’m guessing some sort of drone prank?! I mean.....I guess it’s possible that somebody has a jet pack, but I’ll be surprised.....and envious.

Yes they exist and are available. Expensive and impractical for anything but publicity stunts. Fundamentally, it's waaaaay more efficient to generate lift with rotors/fans (ie rotary wings) than with pure equal-and-opposite-reaction thrust.

I always avoided motorcycles because I figured I’d kill myself on one. Luckily I don’t have the money for something like this, but man.....what fun that’d be if there was a way to learn before going “solo”.
At Embry Riddle in the late 80’s, early 90’s, there was a simulator and ground school instructor that was in a wheel chair. The story went that he had just gotten hired at Eastern, I believe, and the week before starting training he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle and paralyzed from the waist down. Sad story.
