Top Gun to end pilot shortage?

Agreed. It was exactly what it needed to be. The artistic license was minimal, and it got the shots needed. I loved seeing the vapors when they pulled G’s, and the cockpit shots were awesome.
Mr. Maypother indeed owns a Mustang—I’m guessing it was his in the movie. If I had the money I’d do the same thing.

Serious question. Great flick, but do teams really train for missions to that level of extreme precision? Canyon flying and a 10 g pull after a near nose dive to avoid a mountain? If true, man I didn’t give fighter jocks enough credit. Otherwise the movie was pretty near perfect with an acceptable level of Hollywood Blue Cheese.

Watching this movie made me realize once again that I'd give my left nut to fly a jet. Any jet, not just Tomcats and Hornets. They're SO COOL! Even ones carrying plastic dog**** and spring breakers are cool. It may sound like punishment to elite aviators but, compared to being a marketing analyst, flying a guppy is rockstar. The light aircraft market is also currently insane, with 50 year old C-172s selling for $100k. Oh I want one SO BAD! Is this pilot shortage even sustainable anymore?
