There are various senators adding their own non-FAA related amendments. How does that work?

Not before the 63 year retirement age bill. You heard it here first. The REAL Christmas tree bill.

Bills that are "must pass" (eventually) will attract a lot of pork. Even more so if margins of control are slim and every vote counts. Even with a safe bill (which this one should be) a lot of favors will get cashed in. Big must-pass buses don't come along every week, so a lot of folks want to get on board.

There's no law which says the title of a bill defines or limits it's contents (reconcilliation is another topic).

Congress can stuff them with whatever they want, and the titles are typically selected to bamboozle less-informed voters. "Branding" if you're charitable, "Fraud" if you're cynical.

Whoa now…
This thread isn’t for political discussion.
The purpose of this thread is to gloat to all the pro 67 about the retirement age not getting in the bill.
Come on, guys, let’s stay focused.
Boo old people!

Quote: I actually started out neutral, but after discussion and reading some links posted here eventually concluded that .gov didn't have a good basis for age 65, or anything much under 70 without doing some research. Then I said they should either set a timeline to do their homework or raise the age. But for some reason nobody wanted the research, afraid of the answer I suppose. Philosophical discussion only, I'm not working past 65 either way. The prospects of the legislation ebbed and flowed over time and with various developments in DC, kind of entertaining almost. I commented impartially on that, and encouaraged people to contact their reps when appropriate. I said numerous times that alpa did the right thing by supporting the majority opinion of THEIR constituents.
This just sounds like too much meddling and tampering. If you go 70, some will be fine, some will go full Mitch McConnell regardless of what any studies or data say. What is certain is that there will be guys approaching 70 and crying about age discrimination. They will be likely get a more stringent medical about which they will cry age discrimination. Ultimately I think you'll end up with no age limit and an EXTREMELY onerous medical process that applies to and harms all of us.

Can we just take our hands off Pandora's Box?

Except Mitch McConnel is 82yr old, so using him to make a point about a 70yr old is off by more than a decade.

Some will be like Jimmy Carter for instance.... or as we all know, none of would get on a plane piloted by our very own president of the US.

I'm sure there are some out there with a death wish.
