where’s Rick to weigh in?

If all of these people would put the same effort into their families and hobbies, they would’ve let it go already.

This is sad…

I just want this amendment to die so we don't have to deal with this again.

The good news is, when it does die, we can shade all the selfish, entitled geezers who just can’t let go, all over again.
Their unhinged posts on their Facebook pages really are an unvarnished and cringeworthy glimpse into the souls of some greedy, tone-deaf multimillionaires.
They are utterly unsympathetic.

Pretty sure the "mandatory" retirement is gonna be a lot sooner than many of us think:

Much of a fighter jet is built around keeping the Pilot alive. G-suit, pressurization, hardened cockpits, oxygen systems, etc.

for combat, war-time missions, do I want ten F-16's, or do I want 50 drones that can stay aloft 22 hours each?

it is what it is

No arguments there, but despite the efforts to keep two pilots in the cockpit these days in commercial aviation and today's win, the competitive advantage offered by AI will eventually force the change. I think this is a far bigger threat to our profession. Arguing over retirement age today is like arguing over peanuts.

Pilotless airliner cockpits won't touch the career of anyone over the age of 25 flying passengers today. Hell Boeing can't get anything right. Airbus has been working on it but it will take a new aircraft type to get it certified and then legislation and public trust to roll it out. Ain't happening no matter how fast AI tech is advancing.

I'm more worried about AI fighter planes and the computers that control them creating a Terminator scenario that wipes us all out sooner. Did none of the people working on this stuff ever see that movie? I give humanity less than 50 years at the rate AI tech is becoming self aware.

ICAO has shown zero interest in going beyond 65.

The page you quoted says lots about spoofed GPS signals and reduced crew being a bad idea though.
