The real question is: who is lobbying for this?

How do I do an eye roll emoji but 5 times larger than normal?

This isn’t about something being safe or not. This is about padding retirement accounts…pure and simple.

“Organizations in support include the National Air Carrier Association and the Regional Airline Association.”

Drew Lemos, RAA Senior Director of Government Affairs, spoke immediately after Graham at today’s GSP airport press conference.

There's zero chance this gets passed given the make up of the White House and Congress at the moment.

Jump of a bridge, Lindsay. The pilot unions didn't create this mess. The airlines did. If they hadn't taken tax payer money and encouraged their pilots to leave, if they hadn't paused hiring for so long when every analyst from both sides of the aisle predicted a relatively short drop in travel, if they hadn't threatened furlough or sidelined thousands of pilots, if they had invested in their regional carriers and training pipelines instead of buying back stock a decade ago when the the first mentions of this started hitting the press, NONE of these issues would be happening today.

This is pure anti-union garbage. The unions aren't driving this. This is purely the fault of the airlines. Of course, I'm not surprised that that clown thinks the unions are the bad guys here.

Classic political/management behavior.

This has been predicted for a decade. Airlines could’ve made investments into training pipelines in 2010-2015 and they’d be all set up and ready to go now. Instead, they chose to kick the can until the last possible second and hoped to change the rules instead of face the music.

A decade? Kit Darby has been pontificating about a pilot shortage since the mid 1990s. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

It has been real for a decade. Airlines have closed their doors due to lack of staffing/financial viability because they couldn't compete with prevailing wages.
