It’s easy to call yourself a unionist.
It’s easy to a become a scab.

It’s hard to do the right thing.

Before you picket a BOD, post some flame bait, or blindly subscribe to a movement: KNOW WHO YOURE FOLLOWING.
Here’s a little hint at who’s behind your wheel, WM (UAL 1985) & GK (UAL 1985)

Due to a threatened strike by our Pilots, we have accelerated our processing of
candidates for our Second Officer program. This is an excellent opportunity for
Aircrew Professionals to advance their careers, Should a strike occur, those
employed will be permanent replacements for striking Pilots
Interested Pilots are invited to write for an application. No phone calls please.

So much revisionist history from the couple of anti GK and WM peeps. Instead of listening to those spreading lies, just read Flying the Line II. The 570 did exactly what the UAL MEC asked them to do. The strike definition at UAL was no turning a wheel. All but 6 honored the picket line even though they were told they had no job to come back to by management if they struck. Probationary pilots put the trust in ALPA and honored the line.

“Round one went to ALPA, when all but 6 of the 570 not-quite-hired second officers refused to work. This development was critical, because if the 570 had crossed, it might have undermined many weak or greedy first officers who would have jumped at the chance to achieve “instant captaincies.” Stung by the refusal of all but 6 of the 570 to cross the picket line, Ferris accelerated his hiring of permanent replacement “fleet qualified” scabs, but he couldn’t find enough of them to break the strike. It all came down to the same old rub—United’s pilots could control their own fate if they could hold their own lines.”

GK is a very odd duck but he’s hardcore unionist that along with 563 others trusted that ALPA could get them their jobs back while on probation and threaten with firing by management. They’ve led a charmed life being hired so young but to question if they’re SCABS is beyond low and shows how little you know of the UAL strike.

What about one who plays both sides, doesn't come to work by calling in sick?
