Default The dreaded SSSS

So I’ve somehow been flagged and now end up as SSSS every time I travel with a boarding pass.

I have no issues passing through KCM, riding on a cockpit Jumpseat or even operating a 777. BUT as soon as I’m given a boarding pass as either a passenger or flow back into the cabin with an available seat on standby, I get the SSSS. This causes me an immense delay as the TSA triple check me, even in uniform causing me to miss flights. I’ve even been forced to give up the password to my cellphone to let security look through it.

I presently fly cargo and my company can’t help, I’m also moving to a major in 2 weeks.

I have TSA PreCheck which doesn’t work and I’ve filed for a redress number but that takes 90 days.

Any ideas?

Your name matches someone in a no-fly list.

Sounds like you've done what you can do with it. Maybe see whether your new employer can help expedite the request.

Get a TSA redress number, that's what it's for.

explain this to me like I’m 5. 😀

seriously, I don’t understand what the redress number is for and how it would help in this situation.

you submit a thing saying that "Hey, I've been flagged for secondary searches and it's annoying, please look into it" and in a short while it goes away.

Giving up the password to your phone? Not without a search warrant.

Sadly as I’m only a permanent resident and not a citizen, I can’t tell them no. Otherwise I could be refused entry to the USA.

I think you may be confusing CBP with TSA. Green card holders and US citizens have the same search and seizure rights as each other on US soil.

My uncle kept getting hit with the SSSS. It didn't help his mom moved his family to Canada and somehow renounced their US citizenship and he had to deal with immigration attorney to fix it as a college student in the 80s. Plus he has a middle eastern last name. He ended up on some list after 9/11 even though he had been a government employee and did consulting work for the DoD for years. He had to go through some process to get off whatever list DHS/TSA put him on. I know he contacted his congressman's office too. He was a frequent flyer and kept getting hit with SSSS. He still gets it more than anyone else I've heard of, but it's a lot less often now.
