This is what happens when you get bureaucrats in charge. After all, the government is there to help, right? ;)

Thanks for the insight, didn't know that ever happened. Figured yall just had free rein.

We do, but only when a widebody is nordo and headed straight for a major metro area.

This is accurate. I don’t think I have ever flown a star from start to finish there as planned.

About the only time I ever remember doing that is LAX ANJLL arrival from the east. Cleared arrival, approach, and landing 25L abeam vegas.

Yup. about 4 times a month for the last decade+. They do mess with the speeds....

If he wants eagles on his shoulder, more flying isn't the way to go. That stuff doesn't go on OPRs. Bridge be, I had the highest combat hours in the AF for a time. Couldn't use it in OPRs.

Funny, just last week I was riding in the back when we landed on 18R. As we crossed 18L I saw out the left window that planes were backed up on taxiway F all the way to the mid point of D Terminal. There was no forecast weather for that day so I was a bit surprised. Pulled out my ipad and refreshed the weather. Well, I can't say there was NO weather. There was a single return of 'green' about 10 miles wide about 20 miles to the southwest of DFW.

Go figure.

I have, though not so much a short cut as "I'm going five degrees right for weather" several times until right over the top, thanks to thunderstorms.

As for flight through "military" airspace, it happens all the time. VFR traffic is unrestricted and uncontrolled through MOA's, and IFR the MOA exists to separate military and IFR traffic. It's done all the time. Same for TFR's, when IFR traffic s routed through temporary flight restrictions. It happens frequently.
