It’s funny that you assume somebody in their 70’s must be my “meemaw”.
However, saying that people over the age of 60 having decline is a “faulty generalization” is inaccurate.
Some just move quicker than others. Otherwise we would have chess champions that old. Imagine all the experience they have.
As you age, physical strength and mental functions decline along with increase chances of illness across the board.
That’s true regardless of how many people you know that do the NYC crossword in pen.

The current law is arbitrary. 65 could have been 63, or 66, or stayed at 60. The LEPF and EPAS crowds are simply trying to change it. Agree or disagree, I don't care. Most arguments against are based on some kind of fear. Some justified, most not. The Meemaw argument is not.

I have a neighbor, 80s, former United DC-10 Captain who does pro bono accounting work for several local small businesses and completed his 43rd consecutive NYT Sunday crossword puzzle this week. In pen. No one has concerns about his cognitive ability.
Sorry about your Meemaw, but she is not a definitive representative of her age group.

But send money, and keep the faith.
Also, I think your story about this guy is bull****.

If we can agree that any additional or more stringent cog/physical standards, whatever they're called, will eliminate currently qualified pilots who are now qualified to do the job, we're done.
Status quo harms no one.
Anyway, Age 67 is going nowhere fast. Try to keep up, old guys.

All this because people who are rapidly approaching a predetermined retirement age now feel they are being discriminated against?
How noble to start fighting “discrimination” now..
How would you feel if you were 20+ years from retirement and the peepaws ahead of you wanted another bite of the apple at your expense?
Relax, you’ve got a little less than 3 years before you can forget about the whole thing and start knocking out NYT crossword puzzles in pen.
