Some just move quicker than others. Otherwise we would have chess champions that old. Imagine all the experience they have.

As you age, physical strength and mental functions decline along with increase chances of illness across the board.
That’s true regardless of how many people you know that do the NYC crossword in pen.
The real "point" of this discussion - and this issue, in general - is whether your 65th birthday is the an appropriate measurement to determine if a pilot can safely and effectively do this job. Because Meemaw can't fly an airplane at 74 has zero bearing on whether you or I or my neighbor could.

The current law is arbitrary. 65 could have been 63, or 66, or stayed at 60. The LEPF and EPAS crowds are simply trying to change it. Agree or disagree, I don't care. Most arguments against are based on some kind of fear. Some justified, most not. The Meemaw argument is not.

Sorry about your Meemaw, but she is not a definitive representative of her age group.
Settle down, old-timer. There's a big difference between doing someone's 1040EZ/claiming to complete 43 (and oddly specific number. Is he sure it isn't 42?) NYT Sunday crosswords...and flying a big jet.

But send money, and keep the faith.

Also, I think your story about this guy is bull****.

If we can agree that any additional or more stringent cog/physical standards, whatever they're called, will eliminate currently qualified pilots who are now qualified to do the job, we're done.

Status quo harms no one.

Anyway, Age 67 is going nowhere fast. Try to keep up, old guys.

So, let me get this straight. You are against increasing the age to 67 because your afraid that someone under 65 with measurable cognitive decline will be exposed as deficient and lose their job? Oh, yeah. We're done.

Yeah, people would be worried about failures due to proctoring errors, additional hoops to jump through on a day off, more red tape for any errors, etc.
All this because people who are rapidly approaching a predetermined retirement age now feel they are being discriminated against?
How noble to start fighting “discrimination” now..

How would you feel if you were 20+ years from retirement and the peepaws ahead of you wanted another bite of the apple at your expense?

Relax, you’ve got a little less than 3 years before you can forget about the whole thing and start knocking out NYT crossword puzzles in pen.
