Delta PIC question
#11
As a Navy guy, I 100% agree with the previous two posts as well. Official Navy logkeeping tracks a PIC column in your logbook which is logged as the total time from takeoff to landing if you signed for the plane. This is regardless of your first pilot, second pilot, or other time. As previously posted - regardless of what you are doing you are the one responsible for the safety of the aircraft.
Remember, Delta does want a separate breakout of Instructor time if you have any, as well. They want this separate from PIC but will total it into your PIC totals.
For example:
1000 hrs PIC (Missions/logistic/locals)
700 hrs Instructor
= 1700 total PIC (PIC + Instructor)
Clear as mud?

Just to tag along, when the Captain of the 767 or 777 is back on his rest break, he's still responsible for what us knuckleheads might do up front....so what you are describing is basically the same situation that takes place every day here.
Good luck guys!

i think this is pretty much whats been agreed on:
Other time as a copilot/first pilot - dont count it at all
Other time as an AC or above - log it as PIC and if they ask about it then dont hide it. as long as you have your times broken down and you can explain them without looking like youre trying to hide something, it will be fine.
One last thing i checked on - Other time counts toward your FAA total times (i.e. if you have 1500 hours total military time to include a few hundred hours of other, you can still go get your ATP)
