Along the lines of the previous question, a friend of the family is in management and offered to walk me in to meet the recruiters. I saw in another post on here that that can actually backfire since the recruiters are so busy right now. Would it be best to have him pre-screen me, ie, ask the recruiters "hey, I know this guy, he's qualified, do you have time to meet with him for a few minutes..." rather than risk showing up unwelcomed? Or should I just pass on the offer altogether and meet them at a job fair?

I had only one rec on my file and that was someone from outside the company. I did see a retired DAL pilot on the day of my interview talking up someone that he new and wanted to see get an interview. You can send that online rec form to ANY email address...

just got back from the pre-screening and was told to expect an email very soon, like within a couple of days, to schedule an interview. the capt. I talked to said the pre- screen was a great idea & the program is going very well. My internal rec did call and set up an appointment, so I definetly wouldn't show up unannounced . The Capt I spoke with told that the pre-screening really helps the HR guys &basically moves you to the top of the stack of approximately 2000 applicants
