My family and I are going to be relocating to the Orlando area within the next 6-7 months. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Clermont or Lake Nona area? Are there better areas? How about schools in other areas? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a couple of childhood friends that have moved to the Orlando area. One lives in Ocoee and the other in Oviedo. Windermere is not bad either. Both own beautiful homes ($279K & up) and the schools that their children attend are "A" schools according to Orange County School District. The schools in Florida are given a grade of "A" thru "F" based upon the cumulative scores of the student body. The standardized test is known as the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test or FCAT for short. The higher the grade, the better the school.
There are Magnet Schools as well. These schools really challenge students to maximze their potential. Not sure about property taxes and homeowners insurance.
Btw, may I suggest www.newhomes.com and www.buyowner.com. Both are excellent sites for house hunting.
Hope this helps.

Luv2Fly2 - Post a few more times and get to PM - I live in Orlando and can give you some detailed info if you like - I'll even take you a ride around the area in my 172 if you want to get a quick lay of the land...
If you don't mind commutes there are some really cool places inland - If you don't like commutes Lake Nona is just around the corner from MCO - also alot of folks NEED to sell right now so there are deals - but lake front property comes with silly high taxes....

The Deltona/ Enterprise area (not Daytona) isn't bad if you like to boat/outdoors stuff and want some privacy and is about 20-30 mins from MCO.
I've heard to stay away from Lake Nora (pollutted water?) but I don't have any personal experience.
Cocoa Beach/ Titusville is less than an hour away and is a nice area.
Winter Haven is a nice (more upper class IMO) area.
There are tons of options within 2 hours of MCO needless to say. It only takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to drive East coast to West coast (Daytona Beach to Tampa).
