Default Security screening "booths"

Hey guys I recently did a trip to MCO and LIT and both places had a blue booth called CLEAR where a traveler could pay $80, i think, and get expedited through security. Can pilots qualify for this? I hate that the shanks in my boots set off security and having to drag my laptop out of my flight case.

Dont know if it is for flight crew, but members of CLEAR still have to go through metal detectors... Only benefit that I can see is skipping the line.

Had an FO that lived in MCO that loved it. Still have to do all the normal stuff (I think if the shoes don't set off the alarm you don't have to remove them.) It's just an express lane and if you've seen the lines at MCO on a Saturday, it's worth it.

Why would you spend money on that??? We have an employee lane in MCO.

Didn't know if we'd have to spend money on it. To be quite honest I think it's the biggest joke in the world that we have to go through all that crap yet some ramper can simply bypass it.

You could join the FFDO program and bypass security that way. You just have a whole other set of issues to deal with.

Isn't ALPA working on a deal for us with this regard? Sounded to me like we will have CASS check us instead of TSA, personally I can't wait. I think TSA is the biggest joke in America. A whole bunch of undereducated outcasts checking old ladies in wheelchairs and crewmembers better than the guy with a towel on his head??? It is time to get this hassle out of our job! Anybody up for forming group to solve the matter (unless ALPA get it in gear..) for all of us? I'm in...

again, remember that most of the TSA screeners were the same ones that were there on 9/11.
