NYC is what I was told, but the AE will be closed by then and there may be some changes. Prepare for NYC and get ATL next spring.
NYC was not that bad. Great crews, good gate agents, and people have fun there.

Xray is correct. Also I just looked at the projections for March and it looks like ATL 767 domestic is still going to be about 80 shy of fully staffed. Even though we have hired 300+ this year, there are still about 700 (at least) next year. You should get to where you want to be by mid year at the latest. It is what most have experienced.

Thanks for the good news. Needless to say I am thrilled just to be onboard, but this info is like icing on the cake... and I love icing... Since you also have this kind of experience, may I ask you how the commute between NYC and ATL would be? Just in case I decide to make the move early..

Absolutely! First round is on me :)

Sounds like we need to start thinking about a crash pad in NYC.

And second on me, no kidding with the crashpad. I will start checking today. Looks like we get 24 hours at the time on short call and have to be within 2 hours from the airport. oh well, been through worse....

I live in California now (until we can get our house sold) so the commute is not going to be any fun for a while. It will be a whole lot better than the unemployment line or another trip to the desert however! I was hoping for an airline job that will allow me to do international flying. Looks like I got it :)

NYC to ATL and VS is hit and miss. Some weeks there are 100's of seats open and you can pick when you want to leave. Others, you are lucky to get a Jumpseat. There is a ton of traffic from ATL to NYC.
The good thing is there are a lot of options. Most of it goes to LGA. I think that there are only four or five flights a day from ATL to JFK. They are generally full.
That said, it is about 20 bucks for a cab to JFK. You can also use the public transportation system. It is not a direct shot by any means, but it is cheaper.
There are a few trans cons to JFK and LGA to LAX etc. Most are flown on the 737 and 757.
Either way it will take a little work, but it is doable.

I live in Las Vegas and is moving as well. Been commuting to St.Louis for a year and despite the fact that it is doable, it takes way too much out of my time off. If you are looking for a real estate agent in ATL, I found a lady that is very helpful and married to a DAL check airman I jumpseated with. Let me know if you want her number..

Yeah, I hear you. Commuting is never easy, anyway you look at it. That being said it is also a luxury to be able to live where you want. I think my best bet is to sell the house first, then move to ATL and bid for it as base ASAP. Thanks for the info, very helpful and highly appreciated as I have no experience with commuting into NYC.
