Northwest Airlines
what is the deal now with Northwest new hires?
How many are they hiring a month? what are competitive times? How long are people waiting for interviews? How long from interviews to class?
What A/C are they hiring into?
How long is reserve?
What is the latest?
Spill it. Thanks

i hear a lot of new hires into the dc9. i have heard (possibly rumor) that they are trying to weed out people trying to use it as a stepping stone to a better major. So if you are going to commute or drop the hint that your thinking of going to XYZ airlines then your a gonner. My buddy has lived in jersey his whole life. They asked "so why not Continental?" and he answered honestly but tried to spin it in his favor. his answer wasnt as blatant as this but it went something like "they haven't called but i am looking to build seniority at one airline"
he thinks that sunk his ship

NW has made offers to 142, 139 accepted. There have been over 75 start since the first Sept 17th class. The last indoc class to start had 20+, all but two went to the DC-9 Reserve in DTW. 2 went to the SO seat on the 747-200 in ANC. There is no freeze on your initial hire aircraft, so you can bid off anytime there is something else you can hold. Some of the late September classes are already holding blocks on the DC-9 in DTW.
I was told by HR that there are 3500+ resumes in the cue, and that a competitive applicant has roughly 2500+ TT. It seems low to me, but They have been interviewing 25-40 every week. Classes are running about every two weeks with 12-24 in each class. 300 hires in 2008.
