Jetblue offers WiFi Starting Dec 11

JetBlue's niche is not as an international carrier, guys. Lame comparison.
It's companies like JetBlue that really do care about the customer experience, and that's why innovation takes place there. Just look at Frontier's Satellite TV in every aircraft's seat back. What legacy has this? That's right, noneofem.

Then the day will come when we all find that wi-fi, and cell-phones produce some bad stuff....actually cancer, you wont see any cell phone towers around my house... and if the local government tries that with you guys, fight it!

anyway its only a matter of time, and theres going to be a lot nicer things im sure that will be in the works. its just going to be annoying when everyone on the airplane is using skype to video call their families all at the same time.

All airlines will be offering WiFi in the near future. But, there is a difference, on most airlines the people who elect to use the system will pay an access fee. However on jetBlue they tell you it is free...in reality it is being paid for by the jetBlue employees.

The WiFi companies will provide the service to the airline gratus in return for free advertising for marketing their product. If you know something we don't know... please share.

"Live TV" is actually a Jet Blue product that they sell to other airlines.

Of course it is easier for Jet Blue to take delivery of their new jets with new technology. It is much harder for American, Delta, NorthWest and the other airlines to similarly equip 20 year old jets.
Someday, Jet Blue's airplanes will be older and everyone will wonder, why can't they have the features Continental Airlines' 787's have.

Next time your on jetBlue, check out the TV screen and the credit card slot that is next to it. The original plan was to offer free TV for the first year and then start charging. Unfortunately they never started charging and now free TV has become synonymous with jetBlue. Pay TV could have been a great revenue stream, it is a great marketing ploy but there are costs involved.
