The high pay at the majors has to continue to come down to compete with the new low threshold. The high paying jobs you hope you will go to are or have disappeared because of this.
The only way to maintain or resurrect the high paying jobs is to not accept any job that will cheapen you, your skills or the pilot profession. If you think that your skills are valued, don't accept a job that doesn't reward you. And save me the talk about how its easy for me to say this because I'm employed. I was furloughed previously and would not take a job that paid less than what I made at DAL. It took several months but I found it.
We must fight for the restoration of our wages for the entire industry! The bar must be raised so don't work at a place that cheapens you or the industry.
Clap, Clap, Clap... aren't you the industry hero. Remember you gave concessions and it wasn't because of low cost carriers. But it is convienient to blame other carriers instead of looking in the mirror. It is we as voters of this country that have caused this attack on worker salaries nation wide not just this industry. It is who we as a country have voted into office that elects the judges and the labor/management arbitraitors that caused labor workforces to lose leverage with the CBAs (Ability to Strike=PAY/BENEFITS). But while we fight, bicker back and forth on this forum with and deny jumpseats to guys try to get home to see their families, call them names and put down their airline...management/politicians laugh and get richer because we as laborers (country) are not looking at the real problem-who we put in governmental office that allows all of this.
You think that SkyBus pilots are guys taking jobs just to get hired by another major? How arrogant. A lot of the guys are furloughed from other carriers and some guys just want to be part of something from the start instead of sitting at the bottom of some seniority list on reserve for ___ years...only to be furloughed again or not to see the family for 7-10 days. Some guys don't know how to do anything else that makes the same money. Some guys were not lucky enough to have a friend or a "grand father" to get themselves hired at the glorified majors.
I agree with you on we need to stop the downward spiral, but we need to focus our attention where it is needed. Fighting each other is not it.
