It goes way beyond the $90 a barrel, or American Airlines flying into STN....
it was just poor global management decisions.

EOS is in the same niche as M/J... and they are still growing.

I was just taxiing in tonight at JFK and saw Maxjet taxiing on the ramp. I thought to myself "I wonder how things are going over there." Then I come home and see they stopped operations on this of all days. It is one thing for a company to fail, but don't tell me these guys HAD to shut down today...that's just not right.

I hope you guys all find good jobs soon and don't ever have to deal with an airline shutdown again.

If you're still game for the airlines, many of our new hires are going right to the 767 International operation....we (Delta) could always use more people with experience.

In any case, best wishes and I hope you get to spend some time with family over the holidays.

I think this is a good thing for EOS (Maxjet going under), one less competitor and I don't think they'll be the next or even one of the next 5 carriers that get hurt by oil prices but I don't know of any airline that has their business model built on $100 oil...sure FedEx and UPS will make $$$ even at that price but who else is going to make enough to give their 767 capts the $200+/hr they enjoyed pre 9/11? You can't make bad decisions with oil this high, there is NO room for error. Didn't Big Sky just pull out of the east coast? Is oil hurting even the B-1900 operators?

Once again, crappy timing and I wish all the best to everyone at Maxjet.

I hope that EOS recognizes the potential of additional talent they can add to their staff... both front and back end.

Management... that's what it boils down to... is management. EOS has good and M/J... well you know... you all can figure it out.

Thumbs up Eos hiring

The Eos Chief Pilot and D.O. have indicated that they would give "preferencial interviews" to all Maxjet crewmembers. They say that they will be hiring at least 10 front end folks a month for some time to come.

Good luck to all, hate to hear the bad news.

In bankruptcy, employees come first, even before secured creditors. You will eventually get your money - but it could be some time. Since it sounds like a Chapter 7 liquidation, this should be months not years. You should automatically get something in the mail from the bankruptcy court; if not, try to follow it on line.

Sad to hear about this.. I was at Gemini and we'd see MaxJet pilots always as they were two floors below us in the IAD office.. good group of guys. I hope they can land a job soon. I know there are opportunities out there, but it's hard to just up and change sometimes. I feel for them.

When Midway went under, they told us that the employees always get paid first in a bankruptcy. But I never got my last paycheck. Of course, I moved after a year and quit trying to contact the court after two more, and after several years just gave up.
