Default Thank you United.

For sending the two captains to my good friends funeral today to present his family the gift. That was extremely nice, thoughtful and classy. I will go out of my way to fly your airline the next time I need commercial transportation.

John J. Boruch

HOLMEN, Wis. — John J. Boruch, 41, Iraq War veteran and U.S. Army instructor
pilot, of Holmen passed away on Dec. 27, 2007.

As a chief warrant officer (4), John served as a standardization instructor
pilot for the U.S. Army and completed tours of duty in South Korea, Kuwait and
Iraq. He was most recently a member of the 6-57th Aviation Regiment at Fort
McCoy in Tomah, Wis. John was raised in Rib Mountain, Wis., and was a 1985
graduate of Wausau West High School. He later was graduated from the University
of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and, in 1993, completed U.S. Army helicopter flight
training at Fort Rucker in Enterprise, Ala. In 1995, John completed fixed-wing
flight training with the U.S. Army and remained on active duty until 2000. In
2000, after becoming a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, John joined United
Airlines as a pilot for the Boeing 757/767 fleet. He was furloughed by United
shortly after 9/11 in 2001,

re-activated by the Army in 2002 and served the United States in Iraq from
December 2005 to January 2007.

John is remembered for his tremendous love for and devotion to his wife, Carol;
and children, Alex and Amelia. John’s gregarious nature made him a good friend
to all those who knew him. In addition to the love for his family and friends,
John had an unparalleled sense of humor, excelled at sports, enjoyed ice hockey,
snow skiing, golf, fishing and coached baseball. John’s personal dream was to
fly airplanes, and with great perseverance, lived his dream to the fullest by
becoming an accomplished and respected military and civilian aviation pilot.

John will be dearly missed by his survivors: wife, Carol; children, Alexander
and Amelia; mother, Jackie; father, John; sister, Jody (Chip) Schneider;
mother-in-law, Fran Osborne; Carol’s siblings, John Osborne, Josie Osborne, Bill
(Sue) Osborne, Jean (Dave) Benzinger; two nieces; and four nephews.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church (515
Main St. N.) in Holmen. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial
service at 11 a.m. A military interment will be held at Green Mound Cemetery
immediately following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made
to an educational fund established for the benefit of John’s children, Alex and
Amelia. Please send contributions to Marine Credit Union, P.O. Box 309,
Onalaska, WI 54650, Attn: Boruch Family Education Fund.

The Dickinson Family Funeral Home, La Crosse, is assisting the family.
