Default US/DL/AS/AA/UA/NW - SNA Cutback Req?

Heard that SWA is one of the only (if not the) still doing the cutback at SNA. Whats the story with your carrier? Still required?

Love that animation. LOL

Alaska still does it. The MD-80 does not fly to SNA but the 737-700 and -400 do. I don't know about the -800.

Just looked it up while waiting for my monthly schedule bid to come out online.

AA S-80 yes, thrust cutback procedure.
AA 757 yes arm clmb 2 prior to departure
AA 737-800 not sure. I flew it along time ago and we did it then-totally automatic 27K thrust for T/O

That's seems more like it - didn't think we were the last hold out (except when it comes to automation-doh!). I'm pretty sure AA -800's are excempt....

Skywest still does it in the CRJ 700. No reason not to at sea level.

Ref the 757--

Do you mean the standard Boeing Close-in noise abatement procedure where you use V2+15 in the CLB page speed restriction to 3000 AFE, and select VNAV (CLMB 2) at 1500 AFE, accelerate and clean up at 3000 AFE?

The reason I ask is because we have a ridiculously dicked-up procedure that AWA uses on the Rolls powered 75 that requires us to do a manual thrust cutback at 1500' after fiddling with the FLCH and speed bugs at 400', and setting a manual cut-back EPR on the ground.

I remember doing the standard Close-in procedure using VNAV speed restrictions and CLMB 2 on TWA's Pratt airplanes and it didn't seem to ring the noise bells, but the honchos here insist it doesn't work on the Rolls airplanes.

It would be interesting to know if this is the case, or just a cultural resistance to change.

Thanks.

NWA has only 2 noise profiles; in close and distant. In close on the A-320 is a climb power setting at 1000'AGL and flap retraction at 3000' AGL. No crazy cut back like we used to do on the 727...pax don't even notice it

CAL does it too, in all 737 types and in the 757 also.

US/former AWA still does the cutback in the B737-300 out of SNA.
