Default NWA 2008 Hiring and Flowup

I have heard from many reliable sources that there are Mesaba pilots that are flowing up to NWA now as new hires. What is the agreement with Mesaba and other Airlink carriers to flow up to NWA? How many will flow up? I have heard there is a 30 month freeze on the Compass pilots to flow up to NWA.

Also, how this flow up will affect the hiring off the street for the remainder of the year?

Mesaba can have 3 a month flow up for the first nine months, then 9 a month afterwards as long as NWA is hiring.

This is correct.

What is the starting date that these time frames would start from?

This was posted from NWA management concerning hiring on 17 Jan, reference the last sentence.
This does not answer your question directly but may give you some insight.
Pilot Hiring
The impact of the Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act, which was recently signed into law, raises the retirement age from 60 years to 65 years for pilots serving on commercial flights operated by U.S. air carriers. The Crew Resources group is evaluating the effect on Northwest’s staffing projections. In the meantime, there is little impact expected on Northwest’s current hiring plans. Those plans call for between 200 to 250 new hire pilots by the end of 2008. As we see how many pilots over age 60 elect to stay we will adjust our new hire numbers accordingly. Beginning in January ‘08 we have started the flow up process with Mesaba and will see Mesaba pilots starting initial training in the upcoming months.

It started this month.
The holdback of the pilots awarded flow positions is in accordance with the terms of the Flow Through Agreement, and the pilots who are held back (for a maximum of three (3) months) will receive both seniority and longevity credit as if they attended their originally designated class.
So the pilots who "flowed" in jan wont actually start class until March.

and what if NWA merges before then? Flow through pilots integrated ahead of hired, trained & flying NWA pilots? or Delta pilots?

Yeah, right.
