I can't think of a airline that doesn't have problems. Everybody is searching for the dream job that I don't think exists. I was just hired by Spirit and I am looking forward to coming aboard. Positive attitudes make life a lot less stressful so I plan on maintaining mine. Take care.

Last time I checked, smiles were still free at NK.....probably not for long:D Funny you mentioned DTW. After comuting on NWA, it is interesting what they have to say about one of their former workers. Good luck careerpilot..... It is a pretty fun and good place to work. The plan was that mgmt was going to SJU. Climbto350.com is looking for pilots who live in SJU. This way nobody will get sent there who does not want to go.

I cant help but think that a few crews will be displaced down to SJU for a few months. But will all of the hiring going on until June I cant see anyone staying there very long unless they wanted to. |

Best guess, what would competitive times be for a regional FO coming to Spirit? Are they hiring close to the published mins or is it a case by case deal depending on refs, etc? Thanks

Even without a rec, Spirit is looking for a lot of qualified people right now. If you are willing to live in (or are from) San Juan then your chances go through the roof. Competitive applicants would have 121 experience and approx 3000 hours. Spirit is highly interested in people who have knowledge of "cerebral" aircraft like the A320 series. The machine thinks. Spirit wants people who will manage that machine and relate to it on a level of intelligence rather than wit. That being said, get familiar with complex FMS systems and glass cockpit aircraft if you want to "stand apart" from the others. From your position as an ATR FO it looks like you wont be flying glass anytime soon; so think of creative ways to acquire that experience to show management that 1) you CAN do it and 2) you did it for Spirit. Hope that helps. |

Im just curious for those regional FO's Are you planning on retiring there or is it a steeping stone for something bigger. or just a free ATP with a type?

Exactly my thought...I live in FLL and although I'm probably year away from those times it doesnt hurt to start thinking about it.

I am at least a year away from those hourly minimums. However, I think I am going to attempt to get invited to the SJU job fair. I'll call someone if need be. If they are hiring 300 hour recent ERAU grads, I don't see any reason I couldn't figure smething out :)

Filled out the online application about a week ago. Got the standard reply. How long generally until the call?

I think it took about 2 weeks until I got the expanded version of the app. Filled it out and haven't heard a peep since...BTW that was in the middle of Dec.

A word of advice for those who recieved a job offer from Spirit. Do not quit your job until your background check is fully completed. Even though I completely disclosed an issue that happen to me over 10 years ago Spirit found it necessary to rescind their job offer. The issue was completely disclosed in the interview and I have no criminal convictions or training failures. So be careful and do not quit your job until background is fully completed. Good luck.

That happened to a guy that I interviewed with as well. He disclosed something that had happened over 20 years ago when he was a minor.:rolleyes:
He was unable to get his old job back; go figure. Lucky for him he found another 744 capt job and is probably better off then had he gone to NK. |
What is up with the App it told me I had to select a "written exam" like FEX FEB FEJ...it wouldn't let me submit till I selected one, even though I don't have any of them and it wasn'ta posted requirement. Anyone have this problem? I just selected on and will explain if they ever call

No it just doesn't just happen. I don't know what careerpilot had in his background. I do know he is entitled to explain himself to Spirit. Not returning phone calls is like a 15 year girl. Sounds pretty pathetic to me of the hiring dept.

It's happened to quite a few folks. YOU'RE HIRED!!! Oh wait, no you're not! WHY? We can't tell you. Been there, got the T-shirt. It STINKS!!! Just gave my 2 weeks today, and UAL still hasn't "fininshed" the background checks. Actually, they don't even do it, it's outsourced. Hopefully it doesn't happen here. Sweating it out.:D |
Spirit guys and gals, I'm starting initial training soon and just wondering what the dress code is as it's my first 121 job. I think the folks I saw were trainees and in business casual but want to be sure. Also anything that I might need at training which I might not have already thought of? Thanks...

I completed the online application about a month ago and have not heard back, how long is it taking guys to the call? Is it possible to update the resume?

It is very hard to get called from the online App only. I've not yet met anyone that got in that way. The best way is to have someone walk it in. If unable, then meeting with the recruiters face-to-face is the only other way that I've heard of. I'm not sure if they will be at Airinc in May, but I heard they will not be at the one in March. BTW, they've hired a bunch from those recruiting events. |
