Default Thoughts on Spirit Airlines

Hey guys, Just wanted to get some Major Pilots perspective on Spirit Airlines...

Im probably gonna cast my resume net in the next couple of months to see what bites...im happy at Air Wisconsin....but i wouldnt mind a change of scenery...the east coast is starting to bore the hell outta me.

Anyway just wanted to see what you guys knew, or thought of them...i know they are in contract negotiations, i just wanna make sure i dont commit to a new company to find them closing up shop and leaving pilots on the street. Thanks alot you guys!

If you're afraid of contract negotiations, or of putting your job on the line to get what you are worth as a pilot, perhaps you should consider another line of work.

You would like it better here than you would at a regional, because of our contract, not because anyone loves keeping pilots around.

I think an FO at a regional would feel very lucky to have a shot at Spirit.

Yeah, about a week ago, and no.

To be honest, I have very low expectations. But you know what they say about failing 100% of the time you don't try. It's kind of like how I have captain bids in despite having less than a year's seniority.

Spirit had an internship program for ERAU dudes where you could go be a gate agent and a flight attendant for a couple of years and then they might give you a first officer position...i dunno seemed a little fishy to me, and i didn't much want to use my "prestigious" aviation education to go serve some fat tourists drinks....

Why isn't this in the Major section? I know they seem like a big regional that flies Airbii but they're considered a major.
