I love the quote from the Delta spokeswoman at the end of the article.

A Delta spokeswoman said the passengers "were never in danger."

I suppose that is the response you would expect. Funny thing to me is even though I read the words, what I heard was, "These aren't the droids your looking for."

Maybe the Delta spokeswoman wasn't all wrong? There is redundancy in the form of TCAS. 400' is pretty close, though. I wonder how close they would have come if it weren't for the TCAS alerts.

If I run a red light and narrowly miss hitting another car, can I say my passengers were never in danger?

You expect the spokesperson to say "they were in danger"?

That would give a bunch of lawyers some real ammunition in court.

Exclamation

I heard this happening as I was on my way to CMH, the DAL guy kept on asking the controller where the traffic was, he never responded after about 5 attempts then he came back on screaming saying he had an RA, the other guy said he had an RA as well and went on to switch freq's but the DAL guy actually insisted the controller give him a Phone number, seemed like the controller wanted to just brush it under the table. Crazy. I think initially the controller vectored the DAL guy the wrong way

Sucks for the controller, it was very very clear he was being overwhelmed, multiple frequencies, the guy was swamped.............

If that's the case, then could this be a bit of foreshadowing for the future of ATC with the shortages they're experiencing?

Seems like this is the type of senario that will continue to play itself out until either the FAA begins to staff properly or ...rather not continue that thought. When I read things like this, it actually makes me happy that I fly at night...less traffic.

It was probably the same Delta spokesperson that was on the local Atlanta news last week during the unveiling of their first 777-200LR that said "Delta leads the industry in fuel efficiency."
