I don't see it as a slap against the pilots. They were using an aproved proceedure. The NTSB is asking that the proceedure used be changed.

Default Thrust reversers

RedEye---

It's not really tricking the system per se. You just have to go into the MEL section of the Onboard Performance Computer and enter the thrust reversers as inop. The new calculations will not use any reverse thrust because they are inop, sort of. This obviously only applies to the -700

That was my question................We can do the same thing, but the T/O and Landing distances do not change. Was just wondereing if we are both using the same software.

So with your system, the Take-Off or landing data will change if you select Thrust Reversers inop?

Airgound logic... or thustlevers not in idle.. or combination of.... Long landing tailwind... fair to poor braking action.... Approach speed.... Corp Cult.... Many factors here... I do think you have to blame the pilots, it is a Team effort! I have never seen the Reversers fail to deploy unless they were wired closed on a MEL!

Yeah, on my airplane they are independant of each other. I've had single deploy failures, but the only double was due to them not being armed...

Default Thrust reversers

Redeye--

Yes, I believe it DOES change the performance calculations, I.E. the amount of runway required for takeoff/landing if you select the thrust reversers as INOP in the MEL section of the OPC.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info so as to avoid the cheap pot shots on this forum. I can check out our OPC when I go to work and pass on any info you need. Take care!
