Bud Sittig, one of Skybus Airlines’ longest-tenured employees, has resigned as vice president of operations for the airline. The move comes one week after the abrupt departure of Chief Executive Bill Diffenderffer and his replacement by former Skybus chief financial officer Mike Hodge.
Sittig has been with Skybus since late 2004, two and a half years before the airline started flying in May 2007. Before that, he rose through the ranks at Delta Air Lines as a pilot, manager of flight operations and director of flight safety. He was also a longtime reservist with the National Guard.
Skybus spokesman Bob Tenenbaum said a replacement for Sittig has not been named.
In a letter to Skybus employees, Sittig said his resignation “will be effective with the orderly transfer of responsibilities to the new director of operations in the coming days.”
He explained his decision for leaving, saying he felt "out of step" with some of the issues affecting day-to-day operations. He urged employee support for new CEO Hodge.

And the rats are abandoning the sinking ship. Wonder how much they're looting the company for as they run out the door.
That outfit is a parasite on the industry. It needs to go away. It's a shame these crooks are going to hurt so many employees.

Ya, but its not like these Skybus folks were not given plenty of warning. They knew what they were getting into, and now they are going to suffer the consequences of making a poor choice.
I do not feel sorry for the Skybus pilots who will be out of jobs soon. They made a poor choice against everyone's advice, and they got burned. Sounds like a good life lesson to me. Hopefully they all have backup plans.

c'mon man...calling them crooks? that's riduculous. it's also so tempermental
and not feel sorry. what did they do to you? you don't have to feel sorry. they did know the risk. granted this isn't a good sign and usually means they struck an iceberg, but they could survive... that's why they play the game..

How is SX a parasite to the industry when they are voting about a union, pressuring management and otherwise trying to improve their lot in life? Isn't this upward movement? Or did they start too low?
What would you do in your company to improve things that would be different? The thread was started by Deldah Capt. How did their actions, like many other majors, in the form of concessions etc. help the industry?
Yes, I know I've asked this question before on other threads but am still on my info hunt. I understand the view of SX low pay and very high risk but come on, parasite?
Help out the still learning Navy guy.

2. how about substantiating your accusation regarding "crooks" and "loot"
3. where you work and on what terms is a personal decision; it's a free country; they probably never cared about your advice and probably don't care now -- arrogant and condescending at best of you to make such a statement
4. all of the quotes above are flame-bait in my book
i'd agree that it appears there is some disagreement within the executive ranks. that said, it seems that it's being handled professionally so far. rumor has it that the growth plans continue - can any sx pilots confirm the latest rumors about pease and new destinations?

Pease will grow a little. More flights to Florida from Hartford and Richmond. Growth pretty much leveled until Fall, then 3 more a/c. It's not all doom and gloom over at SX. Actually it's pretty good.
