OAK/SJC commuters...parking?
#1
I commute out of SJC and our beloved Flight Crew lot is going away to make room for the new Soccer Stadium
. I am considering using OAK, I've heard there is an E-lot that goes for $91/Quarter? Anyone have any details on where it is and which office to go to?
Better yet, are there any good deals left at SJC?

i stopped by the lot few weeks back, maria was in the office cleaning up and she told me to check back to their website for updates. i went on classicparking.com and there's nothing. i hope that's the right site. anyway, parnk n' travel has a monthly rate of 189
and de la cruz has a airline rate of 9 dollars per day. i also called SJC employee parking and long term parking they don't offer any deals for us airline crews. this really blows and if you guys have any lead to a new parking venue, please post it here. i know there was a lot of American crew at park shuttle and fly, any idea where they all went?

I was parking in Dela Cruz for a while, that is where the American crews are now. American made a deal with them and the American crews just show their ID and hang tag and park for free. American pays Del a Cruz directly, but they dont have a deal for other airline crews other than the $9 a day.
I also called Park n travel and was told $175 per month or $10 per day. I called SJC airport for employee parking but was told they dont deal with employees directly I would have to go through my employer. Tough luck if your employer is not at SJC.
I looked into parking at the light rail station:
http://www.vta.org/misc/faq.html#Free_air_parking
It may be workable but sounds inconvenient, involves limited parking, train tickets, train ride then bus ride.
I may have found a solution.
I am not going to to post details here because I dont want to ruin it for myself or others and it is still unproven/experimental (1st week trying it). After I have tried it successfully for a few weeks I will PM the posters here to let them know more detail.
I will say this much now for those in a bind, there is a free bus, route 10
http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_10.html
Route 10, runs from 2 locations to the airport, it runs from about 4.30am till about midnight usually every 15 mins
http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_10.html
If you check out the 2 bus starting locations either in person or using google map satellite view you will see multiple large business parking lots very close to the bus stops. Having scoped them out, some empty out at night so your car would stick out like a sore thumb and so I consider them unusable, but some do not empty out, and there appears to be no discernable parking sticker/permit on any of the vehicles. I am in one of these lots for the time being, the bus actually runs more often than the parking lot van. I will post here in a few weeks if it works out well......... or if my car gets towed.
When I asked around 4 years ago, before I found Classic parking another SJC commuter told me they had been parking in one of these lots for years and never had a problem.
If you are going to go this route keep it quiet and be invisible so you dont ruin it for others.
I am working on the Bill Clinton principle..... it is better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission!
If anyone has found a better solution let me know.
