Thought this thread would be interesting to revive now...looks like $150 was a bit low...maybe 165?

Why is this a question? When will it hit 170, then 180, 200, 300? The answer is simple.....one day. The more important question is when will we be unemployed?

man i hate talking/hearing about this. don't get me wrong i want these prices to go back down very soon, but it doesn't seem like its gonna happen, and the way i look at it with every dollar increase in a barrell of oil, its that much closer to nobody having a job. thank god im not employed by an airline, but if oil gets to $200 a barrell like everybody seems to think its going to, theres not going to be aviation, because there won't be an economy. people won't be able to leave the house.

Depression Anybody???

I think the question should be whether oil will break $150 by the end of the week - shoot - it might break it tomorrow. I know economists says "it's just a bubble" but christ - it just keeps going up. Daily. By several dollars!

I wish I owned property to grow my own food. That way I could just farm and feed myself and shoot all of the road warriors when they come to steal my gas.

I do believe if oil does not correct to its real value, that aviation as we know it will cease to exist. Just look around at your local GA airport right now, nobody is flying. No, students, no recreational, no rentals. Owners are not annualing their aircraft because they can't afford to fly them. This mean FBO and maintenance shops are suffering and/or failing. AvGas fuel sales have plummeted, and I don't mean 20%, more like 50% to 80% at most GA airports. FBO's can not survive which means the airports will not survive. I'm not trying to be doom and gloom, but this is not something that is going to happen, it is happening. I hope things will change, I own a plane, and its falling in value by the minute, because nobody can afford to fuel the bastard...including me. At $7.00 a gallon for Avgas, game over.

Same is true for the airlines, when you have to spend every cent you make to fuel your lousy car, you have nothing is left over for that airline ticket. No tickey no airliney.

Then again, my Capt. Buddy at Frontier SN ~40, is bored with his job and the $22000 a month he is making, and doesn't really care if he gets laid off!

Yeah....I'm struggling to get on and he is bored.... I don't know why I even talk to him any more.

nitro- Just a little PO'd and venting today.
