Default DAL Health Insurance?

Over time of veiwing threads I have seen on occasion individuals talking about the health insurance provided by their carriers. From what I remember, I don't think that the insurance provided by DAL was anything to brag about. Can anyone provide any input on an opinion. Do you think it is good coverage and a low cost, poor coverage at a high cost, or somewhere in between?

Somewhere in between, I guess. For me, it's better coverage and cheaper than what I had at my regional: SkyWest. From what the NWA guys are saying it's more expensive than theirs. It still won't pay for my bi-weekly swedish massages, though.

I'd say it's middle of the road. My biggest gripe is that it's all through UnitedHealthcare. There's no option of picking another provider. For whatever reason, United is not very popular around where I live and some won't take it. As a result, we had to switch pediatricians to one that's now further away.

Thanks guys...It would be nice to have a bi-weekly sweedish massage, but I guess I will have to be satisfied with just being able to go to the DR. Enjoy the 4th...

That's because United Health is the slowest payer in the industry, of the big names. They would often refuse payments, or take forever to pay our pediatrician, so she dropped them. My biggest gripe a I had with the Delta insurance was the family deductible of like 1500 bucks a year on top of the 200 a month premiums. Throw in the prescription drug coverage, which was bad, a few copays, and you were around 500 a month.

I have now seen what the 2008 premimums are for family coverage at DAL. All I have to say is W-T-F? That is by far the most insulting coverage I have ever seen in a professional enviornment.

Looks like it would be cheaper to just use the same healthcare system as the illegal aliens....the emergency room.

Living the dream. Has it actually gotten worse in the 2 years I've been gone? Yikes, if that's the case.

What did you see? If all you saw is the DPMP then yes it blows. However, it's only one of several options some of which are quite good. I like the new account based options more than plans we've had in the past. HRA gold and silver and HSA. (way too much to explain here) My brother is a partner in one of the top firms in the world and my coverage is better than his. Are you DAL? If not where did you get your info?

I was reading a summary of the premiums for medical coverage under the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) for all pilots and retirees put out by the NWA MEC. Yes, what I saw was monthly premiums for DPMP, HRA (gold and silver) and HAS. This is all that I have seen and have no idea what the coverage is so far, but I will admit, when I saw the 600+ a month out of pocket for Employee and family (Dental and vision included) I felt sick to my stomach. If you think that the HRA gold and silver and HAS are better, I will have to research those options when the time comes.
