Don't know about VA, but jumpseaters can't sit in 1st at our place either. Why? We had a Chief Pilot whose opinion was, "I'd rather have 1st class seats fly empty than with a jumpseater in them."
He put it in the Flight Ops Manual and it hasn't changed since he left.

Eric,
I think you are still a flight instructor. Don't be ashamed on here. We are all friends. LOL
Cheers,
Your old pal....still lowering the pay bar for ya'
PS Regarding the jumpseat: I will take any and all of you. I have two cockpit jumpseats and any open seat in the back except FC. True statement: Our fist class is always full. Not been an issue since we launched the airline. If it really comes down to a bind, I would be willing to pay for the upgrade of a coach customer so that you (or anyone) can get on. Why? Because I commute and I don't abuse the privilege of the jumpseat nor do I hold it as a political device. My hat is off to everyone at Fedex, United, AA, NWA, and Frontier who have taken me on the jumpseat so that I can get work and not bad mouthed me because of where I work. That is what it means to be a true professional pilot.

Hopefully you can get that jumpseat policy changed because you shouldn't have to pay to get someone on. We all know you guys don't make that much.
Your Rush Chairman...just hoping you'll be the first.

Probably not since he's a management stooge.
See, our pilots misinterpreted our CEO. When he said "Nothing is too good for pilots" we thought that was complimentary.
What he really said was, "Nothing IS too good for pilots."
A whole different interpretation.

?
His name's not Rob, is it? I met him, thought he was okay. Former Goalie from up north, eh?
What I don't get about VX is why they want to 'de-identify' pilots, and make them out to be just like agents, flight attendants, etc. I'm not sure the public viewpoint would support that, in addition to the pilots' objection.
