Whats the Latest on VA?

Just wondering what is new there....with the new base in JFK and my impending company sponsored vacation coming I am interested in interviewing there. Anyone with info on how to get called, when the next new hire class is, pay during training, etc.

I doubt they're doing any hiring; there is a nasty rumour going around they might slash all transcons to save money. That would be a huge reduction in flights, planes and pilots. But might be necessary to save fuel, and the future of VX.

I can help a little. New hire pay is $2500 per month plus 24/7 per diem at $1.75. You are on your own for the hotel for the first week in SFO for indoc but good digs are provided in Miami.
Make sure you have the online app filled out completely.
I don't know anything about the next classes although someone else may be able to help you there.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

The interview is very straight forward, no surprises. About 10 TMAAT stories, and that's about it. They will fly you to and from SFO, but you have to ask. JFK is a possibility, but a wait and see approach. They are very cordial and professional during the interview day. You'll walk out having no idea how you did, you'll find out in a week or so. You will either get a phone call or an email either way. Upgrade is at least 2 years, maybe 3 depending on how well they are going to be able to stay on their very aggressive delivery schedule. All I can say is buyer beware. Good luck.

If you really have the luxury of taking money out of the equation, then VA would be a great place to work at. Commuting to SFO will be a pain, but they do provide a quality ride. I'd go on the interview and see if they woo you over and sell you on their airline. Good luck.

Just a couple of corrections to the posts above-Virgin America does not have any plans of slashing transcons as they are one of the biggest moneymakers for VA.Upgarde stands @ less than a year and they are going to resume hiring and aircraft deliveries in a couple of months.
