Reference?

I am hoping someone out there can help me out with this: I have many friends with SWA, JetBlue, FedEx and UPS, but I don't think I know anyone at CAL or Frontier. Does anyone know how to get an "in" into those companies without a reference?

Your friends at the other airlines may have some Frontier or CAL buds. It is difficult to break in without someone inside helping in some fashion. Snoop around - you'll be surprised who knows who. If you are really motivated, go to the airport and find Frontier or CAL crews. Go up and introduce yourself and ask for some information and help. If you are sincere, you will get your help.

Having connections is the key to success anywhere. If I could give any random person on the street one, just one piece of advice, it would be to work on their networking skills. Network with anyone and everyone you can. It's amazing what it can accomplish for you.

How much??? I know most of the airlines want someone who has flown with you in the company as a reference. I have no problem going to the airport (I'm there enough) and talking to the pilots but will that do any good? Especially with Frontier and CAL? What about someone that works for the company but not as a pilot? My sister in a manager at SLC for the gate/ticket agents . . . any good?

Calcapt,
I was in the airport today and spoke with a Continental pilot, he said I should drive to Houston and go to the training center and try to meet with some pilots. Do you think this would be a good idea? Can it be done?
