Titon Pay
#41
Everyone seems to forget that the CEO works for the OWNERS (sharholders via the Board of Directors), Not, repeat NOT, the employees. His job is to make the owners rich.
Arguably, the best way to do that is to keep the employees happy, who will make the customers happy, who will then make the owners happy (i.e. rich).
The CEO is accountable to the owners. If the owners are happy, he keeps his job. If the owners are unhappy, he gets fired.
The CEO gets paid what he can get from the owners, just like pilots get paid what they can get from the company. (Note: It's easier to be "unified" when you're only one guy--one guy who who will walk away from the table.)
