Dear SkyHigh
Finally.. the one everybody is telling me about Nice to meet you here.
I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Someone once said to me most people who quit flying quit after their first solo, and by the look on my face I wasn't going to be one of them.
Yes.. putting all that aside is difficult. For me, it is my family. Everything else I can deal with.. I think. Urgh. If my savings can't compensate for my mechanical incompetence I'll just work at Hooters like that girl in "Big Daddy" did to put herself through Law school! J/K..
I do think I love it um.. almost enough.. again.. family.. darn it.

N6724G - Officers go through a different program? OK that I didn't look into. My BA is in IT. If only I remember 1/4 of the stuff I learned.
reddog --->> so where were you surrounded by sand in this tent?
cargo hopeful --->> OO you don't want to do that.. umm I think everyone would agree, going at that pace would take forever. At least that's what I was told. Better to get your $$ ready and then focus on flying and flying only. Exactly what I am trying to do.

Yes FL350,
Most people dont realize that in the military you have officrs and enlisted folks. I have been both. To be a pilot in the Air Force, Navy or Marines, which is what you want because the Army flies mostly helicopters, you have to be an officer first. In order to be an officer you have to have a 4 year degree. There are three ways to become a mainstream officer. One of the service academies, ROTC, or OCS. The service academies are ivy league schools that prepare you acadmically and militarily to be a career officer. ROTC is wher eyou go to a regular college and take military classes. Once you graduuate you get your commission. ANd OCS is for people that already have 4 year degrees. They go through a 4 month program (every service is different) that prepares them to be officers.
On your other note about being an asian female. You are correct. Ther arent many asian females flying for airlines. I think we need more. As well as more minorities. Right now 2% of airline pilots are female. Most people on this board dont like this topic and I understand why and thats fine. But I would be more than happy to discuss it with you offline.

I think I'm stirring up a bit of a heated conversation here lol. Passion and just plain craziness play a part in becoming a career pilot I guess...
Speed & Meatballs & Pilotpip & PearlPilot are just very enthusiastic.

Got way ahead of myself.. I just remembered, another reason I didn't decide to go the military route is I'm not 5'4" and above and if I'm not mistaken that's their requirement.

Just like any other career, we are very passionate. Bottm line is this and I should have said it earlier. ou dont even have your privtae pilots lisence yet. get that first and then decide if this is a career you would want to pursue. Y50k to do it. Ther are optionsou may start flight training and decide you just want to do it for fun. Remember, For the guys on her ethat fly for a living, this is their job. This is not a hobby for them. There is big difference in flying for fun and flying for a living. SO, I suggest you get your Privalte pilots lisence and see what you think about it then. If you want to go further. then do it and you dont have to spend
