Default Alaska Pilots Safe for now

From our Union...

Latest Furlough News

Due to planned flight schedule changes, and until the affect of the Early Out, Extended Leave and other potential mitigation programs can be evaluated, the union was informed by Senior Flight Ops Management that the decision was made to refrain from furloughing any pilots—if management still perceives it is necessary—until after the end of 2008. Your MEC Membership Chairman will continue to stay in touch with and keep any potential furloughees updated. We will update you if we receive any new, credible information

This is hostage-taking, pure & simple.

Watch it, they tried that over here, (CAL), and we told them to pound sand.

Basically management asked us for scope relief, (the only real weapon we have left), on the UAL codeshare agreement in exchange for no furloughs and some other minor tidbits.

We refused and they furloughed 147 Pilots. Nothing changed staffing wise, we didn't park any more or less airframes but they still furloughed anyways. Agreeing to the scope relief wouldn't have changed anything either as far as fleet plan so why did they furlough?

Hostage taking 101 during negotiations.

Agreed - Hostage taking/Stockholm Syndrome

Now that LA based pilots will be flying HI, I can't wait to see the next furlough announcement - I expect a number significantly higher than nine...
