Not quite. We will be separate for 12-18 months. But, we will have to staff to the new work rules.

Dumb thread of the month award goes to ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^!!

NWA had an operating profit of $93 Million this quarter. The loss was on the "value" of the hedges if sold, not cash on hand.

How did the Mesaba interview go by the way?

I think what he is getting at is it could be a phony sick call and there could be legal ramifications especially if 1000 pilots tried to do that.

The MEC just put out a email about this. I guess they are hearing the company is worried about it.

"....pilots who have submitted their “Intention to Retire” paperwork with a specific date in October, November, December or any ensuing month and who want to retire prior to DCC are advised to do the following:

• Pay close attention to all communications from ALPA and NWA to be aware of the DCC date. It is anticipated that DCC will occur at anytime in the next two months, and could occur with only a few days notice.

• Be prepared to rescind your previous “Intention to Retire” form on short notice and replace it with a revised form that indicates an immediate retirement. You should download this form from NWA’s Flight Operations website and have it available for immediate submission to your Base Manager. Fax numbers for the NWA Bases are provided below.

• If you are on a trip at the time of DCC, notify Flight Operations of your intention to retire upon completion of that day’s flight time so arrangements can be made to cover the remainder of your trip."

That is correct. Its no problem if someone wants to retire at the last possible moment before DCC. You can retire any time you want.
The problem arises if someone tries to game the sick leave system in order to collect equity and also go out with the lower medical premiums.
Going out sick on DCC -1 and then retiring on DCC +1 would certainly get the company's attention.
Delta has some recent history along those lines. They went hard after some pilots who tried to defraud our retirement plan using phony divorces. The company won.

The medical premiums can and probably will be an issue but I am not sure about the equity. The $ of NW pilot equity is set, and any NW pilot that does what is proposed above would be just leaving less $ for the NW pilots who actually stick around and enjoy the new blazers and our crappy commuting policy.

Hi!

I have heard about the "furlough" situation, and it is as soon as the merger is approved, NWA and DAL will both be hiring separately, until they combine into DAL hiring only.
