Now . . this jerk has me rolling in the isle. Thanks for checkin‘ 6 for me. First round -or two . .is on me.
I wonder if this guy is capable of learning and growing? I was gung-ho military, all the way on Active Duty and in the Reserves. I came to FedEx thinking that the airlines were like squadron life. After all. . 80+% of us being from a military background it had to be just like that . . right?
Didn’t take too long to figure out that even though we were still wearing uniforms, civilian flying was not like a ‘mission’ that everyone was on board for. Management guys (although pilots) are not on the same page and verse and are not viable for ‘wing men’ either. The ONLY ones looking out for you (not the Skipper, XO or your Department Head . .or even the guys in the Para-loft) are your fellow Union members!
You have to be big -and mature enough to ‘wear two hats’ if you are in the Reserves or Gaurd concurrent with your airline career. The dynamics are diametrically opposed and you just have to compartmentalize. A good pilot HAS to do that anyway. . because you cannot allow the ‘outside distractions’ . .and there are MANY . . to distract you from attention to detail in the cockpit.
AND. . as far as all the bad names he called me when I outlined some of the bad things that tend to happen to SCABS. I don’t know how he extrapolated that I was ever personally involved in any of that . .BUT . . let me be clear. I NEVER took personal action against any SCAB. . there is something below my character to be sneaking around a parking lot. . or taking a dump in some jerk’s Jepp bag. . <g> . . BUT . .I would never condemn anyone who chose to act out against any low life SCAB.
$hit happens. . and SCABS deserve all they get. If harboring that attitude makes me bad. . so be it. There is a great, old piece of writing by Jack London; “Ode to a Scab” ..if I can ‘find it’ on the hard drive . . I will post it later. Good reading for the young and naive.
