The dude was obviously a jerk. But, He's DEAD , and the people who maintain that sight are classless and crude. They really need to move on.

They will take it down some day. Until then it is a good reminder of the power of Karma. I just wish this kind of Karma would strike more of the jerks out there.

After thirty years @ United most of them as a FO & SO I saw a few people like that. The alkys and the psykos. Not many but once in a while. They were usually weeded out but not always. Unfortunately a fact of life

Default Captains from Planet X

According to old-timers, there used to be quite a few "characters" at loose in airline cockpits. Some I heard about include:

--A guy who would not "ident" when ATC asked. Seems he once lost an engine shortly after identing, and didn't want to take any chances.

--One who would shut off the radio when denied a direct clearance and go direct anyway.

--One who issued instructions to the F/O and S/O by means of a hand puppet named "Freddy the Fox".

--One who saw the S/O recording gauge readings in the engine logbook and exclaimed "No, No--don't put THAT down! Put down what they're SUPPOSED to read!"

Got some others?

I remember jumpseating on a DC-8 a long time ago and had introduced myself to the F/E and F/O. The captain soon entered the cockpit and gave me permission to ride then he sat down in the left seat. The captain then introduced himself to the F/O and F/E and said " I am captain xxxx and I have 8,721 hours in the DC-8...dont touch a f..k.ng thing!" Nice way to start a 5 hour flight! Needless to say not a word was spoken outside of required talk all the way to destination.

I have known more than a few guys like that. My unfortunate run in the airlines left me as a FO on reserve for many years. As such you are constantly stuck with the guys who everyone else is working to avoid. After a few years of dealing with guys like that it can darken ones attitude about going to work. On the day my last airline shut down I was to start a month with one of the most notorious captains at our company. I was dreading it with every passing second. When the news report came on telling of my companies demise it was bitter sweet.

If you are a captain or FO and notice that your regular line co-workers mysteriously drop their trips and leave you with reserves that should tell you something.

There's nothing worst then being stuck with an A@@hole like that for a long trip. I have flown with guys on company checkrides and 2 week long trips that constatly nitpick and hound you about the tiny things that don't matter.

Then when they fly a leg- its one mistake after another. When you tell them something like- " Hey, we're 3 miles from the runway at 10,000 feet doing 320knots" They say- "I know, I know." or "Damn ATC always screwing me up!!"

its enough to make you old>
