Default comair and the delta strike?

We all know that theyll settle something right before the deadline but I have a couple questions. This strike involves mainline Delta only from what ive read.

Delta owns Comair right? Even though they wouldnt never be able to take care of ALL the mainline passengers, what if managment started switching tickets shoving as many people onto Comair planes as possible in a pathetic attempt to save what little money they could if the pilots strike for a few days. Surely the Comair folks have brought this scenario up to themselves asking what if managment wants me to be a scab?

side note: talking to a Delta FA, she said there probably not gonna strike but the pilots are gonna wreak havoc on the system that day just to show them how much they control.
April 18= severe VFR across the US and 6 hour delays?

Default Skywest?

To build on the previous question, what about Skywest? In the event of a catastrophy at Delta, would this be good or bad for Skywest.
Bad, they will have lost 1/2 of their customers.
Good, they could fill Delta's void.

I am holding onto their stock as it has more than doubled in the last 3 years, but I really need to decide how to play Skywest in the event of a Delta strike.

Most pilot contracts have clauses preventing pilots about flying "struck work."

The struck work clause would only apply for about 48 hours. Once the liquidation occurs, then it's a different story...

Skywest has apparently told its people that it will maintain much or all of existing route structure in the West and sell it's own tickets.

Why would a Comair pilot be considered a scab if they fly their routes while the Delta pilots are on strike? The Delta pilots weren't scabs when they continued to fly while the Comair pilots were on strike in 2001. The only way they would be considered scabs is if they flew extra flights on routes that mainline was flying. As long as the frequency of the flights remains the same, then there is no scabbing.

I know this because I am a Comair pilot who walked the line in 2001. I wish the Delta pilots all the best and hope that they can stop these management tactics.

Most union contracts have provisions that allow the pilots to refuse struck work. Existing COMAIR schedules would be OK, even with re-booked mainline pax. ALPA would have to publicly designate any new schedules as struck work, anyone who flies the struck work after that designation is a scab.

During the Comair strike, the Delta pilots monitored the situation, and made sure that we didn't fly Comair's schedule. This included both extra flights and increases in gauge to existing flights. In the end, management tried it only a few times.

That is almost funny. The Delta pilots did nothing other than fly the trips. Sounds like something Mgt. has control over, not the pilots.

There are far to many people here who think pilots control ALL of these issues.
Think the Delta pilots caved in for this past friday's TA?? Think about GE Cap. stepping in and making sure both sides gave what they need to get the TA done. There is always more that most of us do not know about.
