Quote: I agree with you guys 100%. If we are expected to pay mandatory dues, assessments, and any other "fees" they deem necessary then why can't we have a say in the election process.
You elect your representatives, you have access to them at regularly scheduled LEC meetings, you can e-mail them, call them, recall them, pass resolutions at LEC meetings giving them direction. Of course this means you have to actually get involved in YOUR union. ALPA's a democratic organization, direction comes from the local councils, get involved.

I don't know any thing about the Vice Chairman, but I flew with the Secretary, Bob Heisselbein, a few times on the 9. He's an A320 Captain now. He's a really great guy, fun to fly with, always joking. He flew Hueys in Vietnam, then transfered to the AF and ended up flying F-16s in the guard. He's been the security guy at ALPA national since just after 9/11 I believe. I was very impressed with the guy...I think he will do a great job for all of us.

Heyas,

Both NW guys are top drawer. Jim was on the negotiating committee and Bob was the security guy. GREAT guys to have in your corner.

I flew with the new vice-chairman when I was in the Navy-- He's a good guy.

Trust me, you don't want the problems that come along with that kind of system. It's caused us nothing but grief over at the NPA.

Its far from perfect but looking at how this merger was handled, from a pilots point of view, compared to almost every merger in airline history - I think our guys are doing pretty good.

Reddog,
No. I am a LAX 767 guy and considered the 737 since I flew it previously at DAL but decided to hold off. It started out with a lot of redeyes and no SNA trips. I hope the category gets more flying and starts doing the SNA trips but who knows? On the other hand it looks like the domestic LAX 767 is slowly being converted to the LAX 7ER which does fly to Hawaii.

I do not believe so, but the 757ER's do.
They are fairly low time trips. Two red eyes and three days for 11 hrs and change. NOT overly productive, but it is a great layover.
