Over the Christmas holidays I was flying with a line check guy through JFK. We met up with a management type in the airport. The LCA told me was told by this guy that we were diefinately getting 19 717's to start. In fact, we were going through prepurchase inspections with the 19 717's back then. DOn't know if the economy killed it, but it sounded like the deal was already done...

I know there isn't the warmest blood between Delta and Airtran, that's why I use that rationale.

I would be stunned if Delta were to purchase any 717's. It is a dead aircraft and Delta has always stated that they wont operate a fleet or subtype unless they can get at least 25 of that type. They have in fact stated that if they decide not to get more MD-90's the 16 we have will be removed from the fleet. The 717's available were reported yesterday to be going to a Mexican airline. I know that Delta pilots don't want to hear it but I do not believe they have any interest at all in a 100 seat aircraft. They have put out literally hundreds of rumors over the last 20 years that a 100 seat aircraft was going to be purchased any day. Well any day has never come. If we can rollback scope to 70 seats and reduce the gross weight to under the E-170 you might someday see a 100 seat aircraft at the mainline. If not then don't hold your breath.

I e-mailed my reps at LAX. They know this is a big issue for me and I'm constantly beating that drum with every side letter and contract. I'm sure I'll get the "Big Picture" response. I'm a little tired of feeling that our Reps decide what they think is best for us because we don't have the Big Picture. Just want them to take our input and use it for something other than selling the next concession, big or small.

Delta Expands International Reach From New York City With New Flights to Haiti and Bermuda: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance
It's official!!! No longer a rumor. Just don't get caught doing illegal stuff in Haiti because food is not provided in prison.

All DAL Pilots who feel stongly about Scope should call their Reps tonight. I say Tango Sierra to the company - If they have too many RJ's they can start parking them. We have plenty of '88's and '9's that are parked and can brought back into service. Enough is enough already. You can get your Reps number from E-Crew, Personnel information. Start calling now. Any relaxation of Scope today will mean less future movement and a greater chance of future furloughs.

For us non-Deltoids could you explain the Scope you speak of. I'm a little confused.
Thanks,,,
MARTY!
