Quote: I understand the premise of being at one code regional carrier and not wanting a flow at your dream job, but it is good for the gander.
We need to start protecting those that pay the dues not the ones who do not. If you want to work for that carrier then you need to plan accordingly early in your career. It is kind of like other associations and professions. It adds barriers to entry.

I actually like that concept quite a bit. Again, anything we can do to add value back to the seat, I'm for.

Who are you talking about here?

Quote: I hate to say it but I think you're right about Moak. Sad thing is I don't think he is truly unique in that thought process. I heard one of the nwa guys made a comment like "lets be honest do we want to fly 76 seaters or 777's". Like one really has anything to do with the other.

The problem I see is that you have 2 flows which make it more of a sticky situation. It would take you guys roughly 4 years to get everyone over but Mesaba could actually have more guys go per year if they don't have a restriction other than the 9 a month. (I don't know if they do)

I'm not sure if you were talking about flows in the past or just current ones but I guy I knew flowed to continental in about 2 years back in the 90's. That one was quick but then they got so big it made it virtually worthless for the junior guys because it eliminated Continental as an airline they could go to. That one had a life of guys having #'s at Cal to a ratio then pref interview to nothing. What a waste!

During the merger process what were you hoping to have happen with compass? Let me just say that I think delta and nwa completely dropped the ball with those negotiations.
I guess it would be nice to hear the union say we will protect the compass union brothers who have the same rights as our NWA brothers. I feel like the Delta MEC is intentionally trying to limit the support to the Compass pilots in hope that we get feed up and start our own MEC. I believe moak is very self centered and doesn't care about anybody including nwa pilots unless they have 20 soriety's thru hostile territory. At the LEC 1 meeting moak sent his james carville look like. He seemed like a nice guy but overall i just got a uneasy feeling about his intentions and therefore the intentions of his superior Moak. All i heard him say was why this couldn't be done and so fourth. I recently heard that almost all the ALPA request for Compass leave was denied by the Delta MEC. How are we suppose to take care of our matters if we don't have the support from the Delta mec or get any resources... seems like they have a agenda and are trying to force the Compass pilots into wanting our own MEC. Just my 2 cents and of course i work with my fellow ALPA brothers on committee's. The amount of ALPA resources my committee got was pathetic and i may as well continue to pay to work for ALPA while the head cheeze soak up all the resources.

ACL, lest I misinterpret your statement, please elaborate. I don't think you are starting another mil/civ food fight but one could infer that from what you wrote. I hope you are referring to preference given to Delta Code regionals vs non Delta Code regionals.

It is not about that. It is about the guys that do not like flows. The ones that lets say work for Express Jet and want to fly for DAL. It would mean that to work for mainline DAL they would need to go to a carrier that has a flow with DAL, because it makes it very hard to just hire on with DAL.

It was not about the mil guys.

Any news from the meeting in MEM today about the ALPA/Compass Union.
Is Compass going to be staying with Delta or breaking off.

Why?
First I have to say, Why are we still talking about this. I seriously doubt any management agreeing to this. They would loose one of thier most important assest in pitting one group against the other.

Secondly, for those compass folks that think a "staple" is unfair, what would your methodology be? A Ratio? By class? hmm, still sounds like a staple to me.
