SPIRIT Info
I'm looking for info and rumors on Spirit...
When are they looking to start hiring again?
How solvent is the company?
How many A-319/321s are they adding to the fleet and when?
Opinions on current management?
Plans for future growth?
Thanks for your input.

Rumored hiring in September.
Who knows, they're privately held.
MD80's to be completely retired by September, and around 29 Airbii by years end.
Current management is well received and appears to be compotent.
Who knows, the plan was to get upwards of 50 A319/A321's but with fuel being what it is, who the heck knows.
Spirit has undergone significant change in the last year of so. New majority owner. New COO. New marketing people. New VP of OPS/DO. Revamped route structure. (increased Caribbean, reduced frequency in some old markets) etc. New union leadership.
Overall, things are looking up.

Major hiring to take place beginning next year. Also, SUPPOSEDLY 2 Airbus a month.
Of course this is ALL hear say, no "official" words.
We shall see.

Interviewing next tuesday and thursday. If I hear of more dates, I'll post it here.
Unfortunately, the interview invites have already gone out. If you didn't get one, keep trying.
Taking a job at Spirit is like buying a speculative stock. The company may grow like an atomic mushroom cloud, or implode. I do have some inside info, and I expect Spirit to do well for the foreseeable future. But then again, I'm over forty and just barely have a pot to **** in and a window from which to pour it out. Luckily for me, and unlike Skyhigh, I view my career mistakes as my own.

FLY average 70ish hour. PAID 80 hours on average. If you pick up trips on your days off, 150 % pay ON TOP OF the months guarantee. If junior manned 200%.
Trips used to be REAL good. Now they are trying to use us more "effiecently". Some trips (LAX,SFO,LAS) have 24 hour layovers. Still pretty good trips.
MOST fellow pilots are fun to work with.
I used to commute from BOS. Back then good commutible lines, now they seem a little less friendly. Still doable though. We have min. 4 days off between pairings.
Get your stuff in if you want. And if you know anyone, have them talk to Paul.
