Default Eos reaches breakeven

Eos Airlines reaches breakeven level performance

Eos Airlines has stated that, in just eight months of operation, the airline has reached breakeven on a flight level basis, with June month-to-date load factors of over 70 percent.

The airline, which specialises in premium international travel on Boeing 757s with just 48 lie-flat seats, will also add a second daily flight to its New York – London schedule in September, in response to growing demand for its innovative, premium service, stated an official release.

“Eos has reached a real critical mass in proving its business model,” said its founder David Spurlock, adding “To reach breakeven levels of performance in well under one year of operation is phenomenal. Clearly, an increasing number of discerning travelers are choosing Eos for our superior service quality and value.”

With the growth and expansion of Eos, the airline also announces that its founder, David Spurlock, will now assume the responsibility of chief strategic officer, handing his role of chief executive officer to executive chairman David Pottruck.

The two executives have been working together intimately since the start of the year.

Reporting to Pottruck, Evans Gebhardt joins full-time as executive vice president and general manager, consumer business along with recently hired Toby Joseph, executive vice president of global sales. Eilif Serck-Hanssen remains executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Gil Morgan continues as executive vice president of operations.

The airline also shared that it has signed well over 100 corporate accounts, including seven of the top ten US investment banks. With a first-class experience at business class fares, future growth imperatives for the airline include: expanding its number of routes, continuing innovations to the customer experience that will keep current customer satisfaction and referral metrics both higher than 90 percent, and forging even closer working relationships with worldwide travel management companies and GDS systems.

Sounds like pretty good propaganda to me. Had a pretty interesting conversation with two crews who were looking for alternative employment overseas. But then again, management seems to have a much different view on reality than crews who knows what going on while on the line. I know… I seem to be the Doubting Thomas as it were to say… but I’ve been offered the Kool-aide too many times. Glad I don’t drink that cr@p.

Yes there are pilots looking for other jobs. Fact is at most startups the initial cadre rarely sticks around for the long haul. Fact also is that Eos has indeed made it to the break even point on a flight-to-flight basis. It's a fantastic product. As a deadheading crewmember I've had several chances to ride in the back in my business casual attire and I don't have a single negative comment. As politely as I can say it, yes you are a doubting Thomas.

DH'ing on your own flight, or jumpseating? I heard they won't sign reciprocal jumpseat agreements because their product is so luxurious they don't want non-revs.

I have and still invite EOS and MAXJET pilots to ride my jump seat when they are over in EGSS if they were looking to go somewhere on holiday for a few days. Hey... I know the pilots aren't responsible for the jump seat policy... its the morons in management who think they are smarter than the average bear that play a key role.

So far Eos has jumpseat agreements with jetBlue, Delta, and all of Delta's regional partners. Airtran as well we can jumpseat on. We (Eos) have a regular jetBlue pilot who jumpseats on us monthly to London to spend time with her military-pilot husband. We've also had quite a few jetBlue flight attendants jump with us. Apparently in order to use CASS to ride the cockpit jumpseat, however, the leg you are jumping on must be domestic. We only fly international so no CASS for us...ever unless they change the rules. .

To answer an earlier question I was a deadheading crewmember.
