I am glad to see that they are still PIC typing you guys. I know we were going to do SA turns with a relief pilot, but to date they have not done it. That is one program I am not too familiar with.

Funny thing is I talked to a 73N FO that stated that he had not been typed on his last PC.

So are the SLC & CVG MD-90 folks dual-qualified, or do they just fly the 90?

That's still the plan. Right now, we're doing Central America turns with two crews. One flies down, the other back..."dinner and a movie" trips. There was a significant increase in those for the March bid package.

The conventional wisdom is that if/when we take delivery of more of them, everyone would be dual qualified. (FWIW)

Currently, only the lead LCAs are dual qualified in ATL.......

Absolutely! Although, there are a couple where we're happy to get out and back to the US at the first possible opportunity.

Missions? You guys fly missions? Interesting.

However, out of SLC I understand that alot of guys go on missions on DAL flights.

Correct, but if they get more, it has been stated that they will dual qual the whole fleet. Post SOC I am sure.

No turns are planned with a relief pilot. The Company has refused to install a crew rest seat on the aircraft and the union will not bend on allowing a standard first class seat. With the history of poor rest facilities on Delta aircraft the union feels that a exemption for the 800 to use a standard first class seat would set a precedent the company would try and exploit in other international ops.
Because of the above all turns on the 757, 737-800 are dual crewed. One crew deadheads down and flies back while the other does the opposite.
